| Environment & Rubbish | | No Space for Waste? | | |
Many properties in the area have either been converted into flats or bedsits without the facility for adequate/healthy rubbish storage.
This is essentially the fault of inconsiderate landlords and lack of enforcement of proper planning regulations by the council.
As a Community Group, we are concerned that everyone who lives within ‘Westcliff Seaboard’ has the right facilities to enjoy their life here.
Our ‘Rubbish Watch Programme’ is trying to target uninformed/anti-social people and fly-tipping criminals, who downgrade our quality of life and environment.
In the case of people without facilities, we are trying to help, by working with the council on two possible initiatives, as well as pursuing the Planning Department to enforce proper standards for rubbish disposal:
Placement of specially designed Parisian style circular poster columns with hollow interiors, which would be able to contain Black Bags and be key operated by residents.
Creation of special low-level fixed concrete containers, with louvred metal side slats to allow ventilation and to stop rats.
